Bike Hire & Cycling FAQs

The questions we’re most often asked about cycling from our Grantown-on-Spey base.

Where will we ride from your centre?

We’re based close to Grantown-on-Spey, giving easy access to forest tracks, riverside paths and quiet country roads. Popular options include loops through Anagach Woods, sections of the Speyside Way and longer spins out towards the Dava Way, all without needing to tackle busy main roads.

What’s included with bike hire?

Day hire is ÂŁ28 per bike and includes a suitable bike plus helmet, lock and simple route maps. On request we can also supply basic repair kits (tube, levers, pump) and quick advice on route choices, distances and likely timings for your group.

Do you have bikes for children and mixed groups?

Yes. We have a range of bike sizes suitable for older children, teens and adults. If you’re visiting with a family or mixed-age group, let us know ages and heights when you book so we can match everyone to suitable bikes. If you need child-specific kit, please get in touch before booking.

Do I need to be an experienced cyclist?

No. We can recommend gentle, mostly-flat routes for less experienced riders and families, as well as longer or hillier options for those who want more of a workout. If you’re an adult group of 6 or more, a guided half-day or full-day ride is a great way to build confidence while someone else handles the navigation.

Should I book in advance?

We strongly recommend booking bike hire in advance, especially during school holidays and summer weekends, to make sure we have the right sizes available. Guided rides for adult groups (6+ people) are arranged on request, so please allow time for us to plan and confirm your trip – you can start the process via the enquiry form.

What should I bring for a ride?

We suggest bringing comfortable clothing, waterproofs, sturdy shoes, water, snacks and sun protection. A small rucksack is handy for carrying layers and food. If you have your own helmet or favourite pedals, you’re welcome to bring them along – just mention this when you arrive.
