Helping you choose the right paddleboarding experience for you and your group.

Where are you based?

We’re based near Grantown-on-Spey, around 15 minutes from Aviemore, right in the heart of the Cairngorms. All SUP sessions start and finish at, or are organised from, our centre.

Is SUP suitable for families with young children?

Yes — families with younger children are best suited to our family paddling sessions on the pond. These are relaxed, confidence-building sessions where it’s all about getting comfortable on the water, messing about on boards and boats, and having fun together.

You can find out more about family paddling here.

What’s the difference between SUP hire and a SUP tour?

SUP hire is a self-guided experience and is best suited to people with previous paddling experience who are confident controlling a craft on moving water. Hire can be done on SUPs, canoes or kayaks, depending on your preference.

SUP tours are guided journeys on the River Spey, with coaching, support and pacing throughout. These are ideal if you want a supported experience on the river.

Do I need experience to try SUP?

That depends on the session. Family paddling and intro sessions are designed for complete beginners. SUP hire on the river is best for those with previous paddling experience.

If you’re unsure which option is right for you, we’re always happy to help — just get in touch.

When do SUP tours run?

SUP tours on the River Spey usually run on scheduled dates in spring and summer, when river levels and conditions are best suited to journey-style paddling.

Outside of these dates, tours can often be run for private groups on request, subject to conditions and availability.

What happens if the weather isn’t suitable?

Paddleboarding is weather-dependent. If conditions aren’t suitable for the planned session, we’ll look at alternative locations, rescheduling, switching activities, or issuing a refund, depending on what works best.

Can SUP be combined with other activities?

Yes — SUP works really well as part of a multi-activity visit, alongside canoeing, archery, bushcraft or relaxed time on site.
